World Youth Day (WYD) is a global gathering of Catholic youth that takes place every three years in a different city around the world. It is a week-long event that includes prayer, catechesis, workshops, and cultural events. WYD is meant to be a time for young people to come together in faith and celebrate their Catholic identity. It is also an opportunity for them to learn about different cultures and make new friends from all over the world.
The first WYD was held in 1985 in Rome, and since then it has been held in cities such as Toronto, Paris, and Krakow. The next WYD will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2025.
