Tt Nguyn n, commonly known as Vietnamese New Year or Lunar New Year, is the most important and widely celebrated holiday in Vietnam. It is a time for families to come together, pay their respects to their ancestors, and celebrate the arrival of spring. The date of Tt changes each year, as it is based on the lunisolar calendar. In 2025, Tt will begin on Saturday, January 25th and end on Thursday, February 6th.
The weeks leading up to Tt are a time of great preparation. Families clean their homes, buy new clothes and decorations, and prepare traditional foods. On New Year’s Eve, families gather for a special dinner known as “reunion dinner.” After dinner, many people stay up all night to watch fireworks and pray for good luck in the coming year.
