The Copa Confederaciones, officially known as the FIFA Confederations Cup, was an international association football tournament for men’s national teams. It was organized by FIFA and contested by the winners of the six continental confederations, along with the host nation and the reigning FIFA World Cup champion. The tournament served as a warm-up event for the FIFA World Cup, which was held every four years.
The Copa Confederaciones was first held in 1992 and was originally known as the King Fahd Cup. It was renamed the FIFA Confederations Cup in 1997. The tournament was discontinued in 2019, with the FIFA Club World Cup taking its place.
