The 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame Veterans Committee is responsible for electing players, managers, umpires, and executives who have made significant contributions to baseball but who may not have met the criteria for election by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA). The committee is composed of 16 members, including former players, managers, executives, and historians. To be elected, a candidate must receive at least 75% of the vote from the committee.
The Veterans Committee has been responsible for electing some of the most iconic figures in baseball history, including Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, and Lou Gehrig. The committee also elects players from the Negro Leagues, who were not eligible for election by the BBWAA until 1971. In recent years, the Veterans Committee has elected players such as Bud Fowler, Bill Dahlen, and Effa Manley, who were all pioneers in the game of baseball.
